Our team all grew up under Desire Street Ministries as youth, and also worked on staff with DSM as adults – Oscar Brown and Stacy Howard since 2001, and Richard Johnson since 1996.
Part of the original vision of Desire Street Ministries was to raise up indigenous leaders – leaders from within the community. Desire Fellowship is a good example of the fruit of this vision. Richard was present as a high school student at the very first Bible study in the Carver High School locker room, which gave birth to Desire Street Ministries and Desire Street Fellowship – the church that was present prior to Hurricane Katrina. As he grew in his faith, he began to mentor a group of younger students including Stacy and Oscar. Now the three of them partner to minister to both youth and adults in the community.
